Shopgate Admin
Mobile app storefront management
2019
Challenge: Shopgate customers who terminate their contracts early rarely log into the web admin to track their success, even if they were successful on the platform.
Solution: Redesign the analytics dashboard, push notification management experience, and communication strategy, in order to provide and display value immediately.
Role: I worked as the Product Designer on the project, collaborating with key stakeholders, researching and exploring solutions, providing UI design and interaction direction, as well as, creating full-fidelity design comps.
Additional Context
We approached the updates in phases; we knew the whole site needed a refresh, but to deliver value sooner, we limited the scope to the homepage (the analytics dashboard) and the push notification management page—the high-impact pages and experiences of our web admin that we believed could convey the most value.
Push notifications are a key differentiator of native mobile apps and the Shopgate product—allowing for direct communication based on customer data and user behavior to one’s most valuable customers. By improving the functionality, experience, and effectiveness of this toolset and the display of its successfulness (via a refreshed analytics dashboard), we could more effectively convey how essential our services are.
Additionally, we adjusted the email strategy, so that new customers automatically receive weekly updates highlighting the top trends in revenue, orders, installs, and conversion rates, with visuals from the analytics dashboard, so even if they don’t log in, they still receive information about successfulness.
Analytics Dashboard Before & After Redesign
Push Notification Management
I worked on refining UX and visual design of the push notification tools—modifying the workflow of the campaign builder and updating the interface to our new UI design system.
Results
Post-launch, direct feedback was exceptionally positive. Customers indicated they appreciated having access to a wider range of analytics data with greater granularity.
Shopgate saw an improved email open rate with the new communication strategy and increased engagement on both redesigned pages. Churn decreased slightly as well, although, we can’t attribute that decrease totally to the dashboard improvements, but we can with some confidence say that it helped.
